Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, founder and Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, can best be described as a Serial Entrepreneur with a penchant for identifying business opportunities across various industries. Dr. Agyepong's sterling leadership and contribution to national and continental development have been duly recognized over the years by governments and other institutions, he was awarded the ENTREPRENEUR OF THE DECADE at the Mr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong (Entrepreneur of the Decade) 2020 Ghana Business Award as well as INDUSTRY LEADER OF THE YEAR 2020, by the Health Environment Safety and Security Awards.
In 1995, he saw beyond his mother's table-top stationery business and advanced it into a Printing Press with a capital equivalence of three dollars. That dream has resulted in the establishment of a multimillion-dollar conglomerate comprising 60 companies: with operations across 14 sectors of the economy and establishing itself as Ghana's Most Diversified Business Group and generating over 250,000 Job Opportunities. Its success journeys beyond the boundaries of the gold coast with multinational employees including Americans, Asians and other African nationals. Just like a seed, planted with so much promise and blossoms into a tree of many branches, the Jospong Group currently operates in Waste, Sanitation and Environmental Management; Banking and Finance; ICT and Software development; Printing and Publishing; Automobile, Plant and Equipment; Building and Construction ; Manufacturing; Ports Services and Logistics; Mining and Quarry; Agriculture and Agro Business; and Oil and Gas.
In 2006 he revolutionized Waste management in Ghana with the introduction of Zoomlion Ghana Limited which currently is the leading waste management company in the country and West Africa, thus providing waste management solutions in Ghana and in five other African countries. An award-winning company, Zoomlion is the leading waste management company in Ghana through whose performance the Jospong Group boasts of several recycling companies, sewerage treatment plant, transfer stations, medical treatment facilities and landfills management among others.
In 2008, the then President, His Excellency John A. Kufour conferred on him one of the highest honours of Ghana-the Award of the Order of the Volta. This was followed by the Best Entrepreneur of the year 2010, by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana. He was also a finalist in the Master's Division of the maiden Ernst & Young West Africa Entrepreneur of the year Awards in 2011.
In the same year, he was adjudged the Overall Best Entrepreneur of the Year by the Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards. Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong is an articulate conference speaker and a member of The Advisory Board of the Centre for African Studies of Harvard University, President of the Environmental Service Providers Association in Ghana, a Council member of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and a member of other Boards. Born in the early 1970s; Joseph, is a fearless goal-getter with a passion to improve lives.
Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey is the current Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). She is an economist and a politician.
Career Path
Prior to her appointment as the first female Chief Executive of the AMA, Hon Elizabeth K. T.Sackey served as the Deputy Minister for Greater Accra Region in the first term of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government from 2017 to 2021.
Between 2005 and 2017 she represented the people of Okaikwei North Constituency as the Member of Parliament (MP) where she served on the following committees: Employment, State Enterprises and Social Welfare, Environment, Science and Technology, Foreign
Affairs, Finance, Trade, Industry and Tourism as well as Mines and Energy. She also served as the Assembly Member for the Akweteman Electoral Area from 2002 to 2006 which was under the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. Before venturing into politics Hon. Elizabeth Sackey worked as a Chief Clerk for the Ghana Commercial Bank from 1983 to 2005.
Education
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon. Before that, she pursued a course in Marketing at t h e Academy of Business Administration where she obtained a certificate in Marketing.
Hon. Sackey was born on 6th May 1968 and hails from Asere, in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. She began schooling as a child in the Northern Region where she attended the Sakasaka Experimental School from 1964 to 1966, after which she proceeded to Kitson Mills Primary School in Accra from 1966 to 1969. She later enrolled at the Mamprobi Girls' School in 1970, completed in 1972 and gained admission to the Accra High School to pursue the GCE Ordinary Level Certificate.
Personal Life
Hon. Sackey is a devout Christian who fraternise with the Church of Pentecost and is married with four children.
Mrs Lydia Obenewa Essuah has over twenty (20) years' experience in Development Planning and Public Financial Management in the Ghana Civil Service. She entered the service as an Assistant Director and has risen through the ranks to the position of a Director. Currently she works with the Ministry of Environment Science Technology and Innovation (MESTI) as the Director for Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (PPMED).
In her capacity, Mrs. Essuah is responsible for the preparation and monitoring of the Sector Medium Term Development Plan (SMTDP), Annual Action Plans and Sector budgets. Additionally, she is responsible for policy formulation in the areas of E-Waste and Plastics, project concept development, project design, appraisal, negotiation and implementation of rural and urban poverty reduction projects and programmes including E-Waste and Plastics management. She is the Project Coordinator for the Germany Development Cooperation funded Projects for the sustainable management of E-Waste. Mrs. Essuah also worked at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development's (MLGRD) Policy Planning and Monitoring Directorate (PPMED).
She was the Head of the Procurement Unit and served as the Coordinator of the World Bank funded Local Government Capacity Support Project (LGCSP) and the Urban Development Grant (UDG) for Municipal Assemblies as well as the IFAD funded Northern Region Poverty Reduction Programme (NORPREP).
